Hello Guys, WOW……A week has passed since my first blog, I wanted to take this opportunity to say a big thank you to everyone who took the time out to read this, I also apologise that I stole 3 minutes from your life that you will never get back…….
Firstly, let me keep you in the loop with all things Lets Market, we have had the biggest month to date. Breaking sales records for one of our clients, landing 2 national accounts for another client, growing social media accounts by 100%, boosting organic interaction by 400 and going through the process of ironing out the final details of 2 new clients……MIC DROP
So, I have been scratching my long, curly locks all week thinking about what to write in this week’s blog, there are so many relevant topics, it was difficult choosing…… Do I write about me? #BORING, Do I write about #COVID and the #ECONOMY?... F#@K off Simon I hear you say. So more interestingly, over the last few weeks, I have been running numerous polls across various social media platforms. I have been trying to get a broader understanding of the mindset of where everybody is mentally right now. The key to a successful salesman is understanding what your clients wants and needs are, and by judging from the feedback from a broad geographical and professional perspective, you are a salesman’s worst nightmare…..I have no idea what you all want….
Seriously though, we are all going through some tough times right now - Yes there is a light at the end of the tunnel, but the tunnel does seem like it is never ending at times. So, I started asking questions ‘Do you still get that Friday Feeling?’ ‘Do you still dress in office attire now we all work from home?’ ‘Do you still keep the same routine every morning, or do you sleep in a little now we all work from home?’.
Me personally, I am a networker; I love meeting new people, building relationships, I miss the buzz of a networking event, shaking someone’s hand, I even miss a meeting about a meeting. For me, I can’t wait to have my first F2F meeting, put on a suit and not just sit in my home office (yes…I wear a suit every day to technically sit in my house….I am one of those guys).
The feedback from the polls was really interesting, the social side of the questions led me to believe everyone misses the buzz side of the office, that Friday feeling, Friday drinks, going out with your colleagues, dancing the night away, putting your manager’s tie around your head, “go on then…. one quick drink……WHAT…..how is it 3am?!” that kind of vibe. Then there was the feedback from ‘What time do people get up for work or do they stick to the same routine as before?’ The impression I got from this was it all depended what people had on, so not really sticking to any routine, just getting up early when they had to. Then there was the office attire questions….this surprised me. I thought I was the only one, but more people were in favour of dressing smart. The feedback been that people wanted to try and separate work from home, and by wearing office attire, it made them feel good, perform better, and helps them with that separation. I can personally vouch for this because as I am writing this, I am in a glorious suit…..
What is the outcome? With nearly a year of working from home, people have been debating the question ‘Home vs Office?’. From experience with the companies and agencies I am working with, they are getting the job done, business is good, but they do miss certain aspects of what makes a job even more fun. Going off the Polls I have been running, I would say the key word is BALANCE. We need the social aspect and routine of the office, but we are still getting the job done, we are still productive. So, when things go back to normal, whenever that is, what would you prefer?
If you didn’t catch any of my polls, I would be really interested to hear your thoughts on these subjects…...Have you struggled to stay motivated? Have you adapted well to working from home? Do you get that Friday feeling, or does it feel socially distanced at the moment? Feedback is key and I would love to hear what you have to say.
Thank you very much guys and girls, I look forward to speaking to you next week. Until then, keep well and stay safe.
